Overview of CD4017
⭆Pin 14-Clock Input - This is where the clock signal is applied. Each rising edge of the clock signal advances the counter.
⭆Pin 15-Reset Input - When this pin is set to a logic low (0), it resets the counter to 0.
⭆Pins-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11 :Output Pins - These pins correspond to the 10 different counter stages. They are sequentially activated based on the clock input.
⭆Pin 16-Positive Supply - Connect to the positive power of the supply voltage
⭆Pin 8-Ground - Connect to the ground of the power supply.

Overview of CD4017
The
CD4017 is a built-in 10-stage counter and decoder. It has 10 output
pins that are sequentially turned on and off based on the clock input
signal. The CD4017 counts from 0 to 9 and then resets to 0. Each rising
edge of the clock signal advances the counter by one step. CD4017 widely used in various digital and analog applications, including sequential logic circuits, LED chasers, and more.

Overview of a Relay Module
A Relay module includes a Coil, Normally open(NO) Terminal, Normally closed(NC) Terminal and Common(COM) Terminals.➨Coil: When electrical current is passed through, it generates a magnetic field.
➨Common(COM):Connected to Load terminal.
➨Normally Closed(NC):connected to the load terminal before the relay turned on.
➨Normally Open(NO): connected to the load terminal after the relay turned on.

How the IR Remote Control Switch Circuit Using CD4017 works
⇒When IR Receiver receives an IR signal from the IR remote control, it detects the signal and provides a digital pulse to the clock pin(pin 14) of CD4017 through a PNP Transistors(BC 557)
⇒The CD4017 produces sequential outputs in response to clock pulses. This output from Pin 2 is connected to the base of an NPN transistor(BC547).This transistor work as a switch.
⇒When IR Receiver detects the signal it sends a digital pulse to the CD4017 so the clock is high and pin 2 is ON. When pin 2 is ON it also turns on the NPN transistor. When NPN transistor is on it activates the relay coil and turning on the load.
⇒when IR signal not come, the clock is low so counter stops in the hold state and output is giving through pin 3 but there is no connection in pin 3.
⇒Next time again IR Receiver detects the signal, the clock pin receives the high signal and then pin 4 goes ON. But the pin 4 is connected to pin 15 which is reset and counter restart so pin 2 is off also transistor turns off, it deactivates the relay coil and turning off the load.
